Christ’s Power Made Perfect in Weakness / 2 Corinthians 12:1–10, the Sufficiency of Grace, and the Practice of Humility

1. The overall theme is "Christ’s power made perfect in weakness." Reading 2 Corinthians 12:1–10, the sermon focused on Paul's posture of boasting not in achievements, but in "weakness," centering our hearts on the Lord's words declaring the sufficiency of His grace.
2. "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness" (2 Corinthians 12:9). We confirmed the core message: by avoiding pride and gladly accepting weakness, Christ's power rests upon us.
3. Paul humbly speaks of his experience as "a man in Christ." It was shown that his intention in writing the letter was to draw attention to Christ's grace revealed in weakness rather than to the visions or revelations themselves.
4. "A thorn in the flesh" (2 Corinthians 12:7) has various interpretations—such as illness, emotional suffering, or trials in human relationships. However, it was understood as something allowed by God to prevent pride and grant grace to the humble (aligning with the teaching of James 4:6).
5. The experience of praying three times without the thorn being removed is a lesson in the "sufficiency" of grace. We received the insight that spiritual maturity is fostered through God's way of answering: companionship over resolution, and strengthening over removal.
6. Practical application in daily work: In October and November of a nurse's first year, mistakes due to familiarity and pride easily creep in. Through recognizing weakness and exercising humility, a posture of thorough double-checking, relying on God, and entrusting oneself to Christ's power was required.
7. Awareness of weakness is not self-denial, but a doorway to receiving grace. By acknowledging the truth that "I am a weak person who can do nothing alone," we are instead granted inner strength, deepening our trust in Christ's power.
8. Redefining prayer: The prayer "Make me weak" does not mean weakening one's faith, but rather deeply realizing one's limitations and sinful nature (pride), leading to humility. There, the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the inflow of grace occur.
9. Confirmation of testimony: Even while living apart, the truth of God's Word served as a support, and the Lord's grace specifically worked to "make us stand when we cannot stand." The importance of believing God's Word literally and confirming it daily was emphasized.
10. In the concluding prayer, we asked for God's companionship in each day of this week, praying that grace would be revealed through our weakness and that we would be invited into worship and praise. We were encouraged not to fear becoming weak, but to humbly entrust everything to the Lord.
